First Aid

 COLD BURNS

  • LPG vaporizes quickly and will cause extreme frostbite if it touches the skin.

First Aid:

  1. Relieve pain by immersing the burned area in lukewarm water, not more than 10 minutes. Or apply wet cloth.
  2. Cover the burn with a dry, non-sticking, sterile dressing or a clean cloth.
  3. Do not expose injured area to excess heat or cold.
  4. Seek immediate medical assistance.

 THERMAL BURNS

  • Burn is an injury involving the skin, muscles, nerves and blood vessels, which are caused usually caused by flames/heat.
First Aid:
  1. Cool the burned area with cold but not icy water until the pain diminishes
  2. Dry the area and cover the burn with a dry, non-sticking, sterile dressing or a clean cloth.
  3. Do not prick blisters or interfere with burned area.
  4. Do not apply butter, oil or creams to the wound.
  5. For 3rd degree burns, treat the patient for shock by elevating the legs and keeping the patient warm with a clean blanket.
